Mini-Reviews: Over Raging Tides and Hex Hall

Hiya, fellas! I'm here with some mini-reviews again.  I think I like these posts more and more. Do you? They are far easier to write and when I don't know how to write a nice and long review I just feel like writing something shorter instead.

1. Over Raging Tides - ★★★★

Over Raging Tides by Jennifer EllisionI've wanted to read more books about pirates. Well, I think that I found my new cup of tea.

An e-copy was sent to me by the author in exchange for a review.

I loved the book and found it way too short. I want to read more! It also ends on the perfect cliffhanger and I am just left here, waiting for the next one...

I loved Jennifer Ellision's writing, I loved the story and the plot. There were some predictable twists but I don't mind it because it didn't take from my enjoyment at all. I actually like to be able to see stuff coming, it makes me feel even better when I finally reach that moment and my guess turns out to be right.

I loved the characters, I loved the story. I also repeat myself a lot but the truth is that I find it very hard to review short books, I just don't have much to say.

I loved how before every chapter there was written one of the laws aboard the ship and the way it was connected to the story. I find this very smart and unique.

Gracie is the type of the main character I love and I really hope that I get to learn more about her, Sam, and Leo in the next book because I just found the characters' stories not developed enough.

The book is full of action and is very well-written and if you like pirates and want to read about an all-girls crew, I would certainly recommend this book.

2. Hex Hall -

5287473This was actually my fourth reread of Hex Hall. This is the book that got me into reading and made me the person I am today. I was twelve when I first got my hands on it and I would never forget it. That's why I would always give it 5 stars, no matter how much I've grown as a reader because, without it, I would have never become a book nerd.

I love the story, it's one of the old ones where the girl goes to a magical school an all hell breaks loose. I liked such stories back the but after reading around 25 of them I got bored.

Anyway, I love the idea and the characters. They are all dear to me and I'm also considering getting the other two books as well just so I can spend some more time with these characters and see the story unfold once again.

A curious fact is that I have reread only the first and the second book before and now would be my first time to reread the third and I am excited. I can't believe how long it has been (almost 8 years, fellas!) after this book and I have read a little over 600 books!

What was the book that got you into reading?
Have you read any of these?

  1. I love it when you reread a book and love it just as much as the first time! I really loved Hex Hall too. And I read the first few books of Jennifer Ellision's last series and they were great---this reminds me that I need to pick it back up again!
